RIVERSIDE, CA — January 6, 2010 — As part of its commitment to customer service, the Riverside Transit Agency (RTA) will make schedule and routing changes to several routes beginning this weekend.
The modifications, which take effect Sunday, will affect 30 local and commuter bus routes. The changes include upgraded service in the Perris area due to the opening this Sunday of the Perris Station Transit Center, which includes eight bus bays, a pedestrian plaza and a 141-space park-and-ride lot. Routes 19, 22, 27, 30, 74, 208 and 212 will serve the new transit center.
A public grand opening for the transit center will be held on January 11 at 2 p.m. The center will feature artwork by Disney animator Ward Kimball.
“The Perris Station Transit Center will enhance connectivity and make travel more accessible and convenient for our customers,” said RTA Chairman of the Board Jeff Comerchero. “When it comes to travel, we are challenging the automobile like never before.”
In February, as part of the service change, RTA will begin detours for routes 1, 13 and 15 due to construction on Magnolia Avenue between Jurupa Avenue and Beatty Drive. That work is part of a project designed to separate train and vehicle traffic. Detours are expected to last through fall of 2011.
Other RTA routes undergoing timetable and/or routing changes include the 3, 7, 8, 11, 21, 40, 41, 50, 53, 79 and 217.
More information on the changes can be found in the new Ride Guide available on buses and at pass outlets this week or online at www.riversidetransit.com. A brochure of the service change highlights is also available online and aboard buses. |
