Daniel
Foster, Executive Director,
Riverside Art Museum
Daniel
Foster, Executive Director
at the Riverside Art Museum
has been critically involved
with the tremendous growth of
exhibitions, educational programs,
and community outreach events
and festivals at the Museum
in the past two and a half years. His
arts community leadership and
efforts have been vital to the
initiation, coordination and development
of many new and important events
in Riverside and the Inland Empire
region. Some
of these initiatives include the
Riverside Arts Walk on First Thursdays,
the Arts & Culture
Grove @ Orange Blossom Festival,
the Riverside Cultural Consortium,
the Inland Regional Arts Forum,
in addition to launching a series
of weekly Thursday Night educational
programs at the Museum (i.e.,
The Gathering, Arts Forum Series,
and Poetry + Art). Foster
has been instrumental in supporting
RTA’s Inaugural Art Contest.
“I think it’s important for
the director of an arts museum
to always reach out to artists
in the community,” Foster says.
Cosmé
Cordova, Director of Division
9 Gallery
Cosmé
Cordova, Director of Division
9 Gallery has been a driving force
in establishing the Riverside
art scene. His goal is creating
a venue where people of different
cultures and backgrounds can gather. In
2001 soon after the opening of
Division 9 Gallery, Cordova co-founded
the downtown Riverside Arts Walk.
The event is held the first Thursday
of the month and has grown in
popularity and attracts attention
from throughout the region. Cordova
is also known for his development
of partnerships with other arts
and community organizations. In
March of 2005 he was named the
city’s arts honoree of the month
and was recognized for his artistic
excellence and community service.
Cordova is honored to collaborate
with the Riverside Transit Agency.
“The RTA has been a significant
component in shaping “where I
am today”, he said. Cordova remembers
commuting on public transportation
while in college. It was an experience
that allowed him to interact with
many individuals with diverse
backgrounds who were interested
in the art canvases that traveled
along with him.
