RTA
CUTS THE COST OF BUS TRAVEL
Bus
passengers will enjoy major fare
savings this spring when the Riverside
Transit Agency (RTA) launches
a ticketing package designed to
make bus travel more affordable.
The
Agency’s Board of Directors has
approved a new fare structure
that will for the fi rst time
include a seven-day pass that
costs $12. The new pass is a further
step in the Agency’s long-term
commitment to improving bus travel
by giving passengers more choices.
“Public
transportation should be effi
cient, convenient and most of
all, affordable,” said RTA Chair
Jeff Fox. “The introduction of
a seven-day pass is proof of RTA’s
pledge to get more people out
of their cars and onto public
transit.”
The
seven-day pass is designed to
provide a less-expensive alternative
to RTA’s monthly pass, which costs
$43. Customers can purchase the
new passes aboard RTA buses, as
well as at various pass outlets
across the county, through the
mail or on RTA’s Web site www.RiversideTransit.com.
RTA
will launch an aggressive marketing
campaign to promote the new pass
prior to its debut on or around
May 1. The passes will be released
as part of a three-month pilot
program. At the end of the pilot,
RTA will evaluate the level of
public interest in the passes
before deciding whether to offer
them on a permanent basis.
The
Riverside Transit Agency provides
public transportation for Western
Riverside County, operating 38
fixed routes, 5 commuter routes
and 15 demand response services.
RTA’s service area spans 2,500
square miles, the second-largest
in the nation. For bus route and
schedule information contact RTA
